They were some of the most popular reality shows the network aired, but the network has also produced many other reality shows that have faded into obscurity. It’s hard to keep track of the hundreds of MTV reality shows, but we’ve compiled a list of some of the most noteworthy MTV reality shows you might have forgotten about. So, let’s take a trip down memory lane!

Room Raiders

"Room Raiders" aired from 2003-2009 and was centered around a person who would have their room searched by three other contestants chosen by the show. The contestants would then rummage through the room, learn about the contents, and judge the room's owner based on what they found. The show proved very popular and even inspired spin-offs like "Parental Control" and "Date My Mom."

Next

"Next" was a dating show aired from 2005-2008 and became a cult classic on MTV. In "Next," one person went on a date with five different people, and if they didn’t like that person, they could shout “Next” and move on to the next date. It’s a formula that had never been seen on television and proved very entertaining for viewers. The show also served as the perfect commentary on modern dating.

The Shop

This show was a short-lived show on MTV that only aired for one season in 2006. The show centered around a group of mechanics who ran a custom body shop in California. The mechanics were all young, good-looking, and had a dynamic personality, making it easy for the show to attract young audiences. Although it was canceled after one season, "The Shop" showcased a lot of talent and potential that could have made it a long-lasting success.

Making Menudo

"Making Menudo" ran on MTV in 2007 and was a remake of a previous Menudo show that aired in the 1970s. The show centered on creating a new Menudo group with a competition format. The competition was structured through individual performances, solo performances, and dance routines. "Making Menudo" was fascinating because it gave us a glimpse into how pop culture groups were formed. The show was unfortunately canceled after only one season.

A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila (2007-2008)

This dating show featured reality star Tila Tequila as she searched for love. The show aired for two seasons and was known for its controversial moments and dramatic eliminations.

The Paper

"The Paper" was an MTV reality show that aired for one season in 2008 and followed students at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida, as they produced their school’s newspaper. "The Paper" took a more substantive take on student issues than what we get nowadays. The show proved to be a major hit with students and even some high school staff, but unfortunately, it was not renewed for a second season.
